Radon Testing

Preparing a home for a radon test:

12 hours prior to the beginning of radon testing, 'closed-house' conditions must exist.

Closed-house conditions include: 

1. ALL exterior doors and windows closed except for normal entry and exit.

2. Fans or other machinery (evaporative or swamp coolers, etc.) bringing air in from the outside should be turned off (unless part of an existing permanent radon mitigation system).

3. Heating and Air Conditioning systems that re-circulate interior air may be operated normally.  

4. Window air conditioners, if used, must be on ‘maximum cooling’ setting.
